Aurora, CO—Mayor Steve Hogan will officiate the Ribbon Cutting at Colorado Medical Waste’s Aurora facility on May 14th. The ribbon cutting celebrates groundbreaking green technology that will position Colorado on the forefront of environmental stewardship. The Ozone Medical Waste Processor at Colorado Medical Waste will be on display from 5 to 7 pm. Ribbon will be cut by the Mayor at 5:30. The event is by invitation only, due to space limitations.  Invitees include Aurora City Council members, city staff, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment authorities, Adams County commissioners, Aurora Chamber of Commerce staff, Colorado Medical Waste select customers, vendors and media. Wells Fargo Bank and Clean Waste Systems are sponsoring the event. According to President Beverly Hanstrom, ozone medical waste processing is the future and will replace antiquated technologies and processes of the past, such as autoclaving and incineration. Autoclaving offers no volume reduction, leaving waste recognizable. Incineration produces noxious pollutants and greenhouse gas. Hanstrom’s Ozone Medical Waste Processor uses ozone to process medical waste with no environmental contaminants; and shreds the waste, reducing its volume by 90%.  Colorado Medical Waste is operating the first Ozone Medical Waste Processor in the state of Colorado. Hanstrom explains, “Colorado is the third state to approve this process. It is truly a game-changing technology. We are very excited to make Colorado a groundbreaking state in protecting public health and the environment from contamination of medical waste. My hope is that the work we are doing in Colorado will challenge medical waste generators and processors to adopt this sustainable technology in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint.” Attendees of the ribbon cutting event can view the processor and facility and may schedule demonstrations during normal business hours. The processor will not be in operation during the celebration. For more information, visit http://www.coloradomedicalwaste.com or call (303) 794-5716.
